Ashley Hinson betrayed Iowans by voting for devastating healthcare cuts, ripping away food assistance, and voting to end energy credits that supported Iowaâs energy sector. Hinson attacked healthcare systems that supported rural Iowans and championed tariffs that harmed Iowan families. Are we surprised that she was being booed by her constituents?
- Hinson betrayed Iowans by voting for a bill that is estimated to kick 17 million Americans off their health insurance, including nearly 12 million Americans who rely on Medicaid. Over 86,000 Iowans could lose their health insurance as a result of her vote. Hinson was met with a chorus of boos from upset Iowans when she touted the legislation and itâs cuts.
Message: Hinson betrayed Iowans by voting to take health care away from Iowans all to fund billionaire tax breaks.
¶ Hinson Opposed Expanding And Protecting Healthcare Coverage
- Hinson opposed expanding Medicare coverage, claiming that it was âsocialism.â Hinson twice voted against capping insulin prices for seniors.
- Hinson opposed extending ACA subsidies and called the ACA, the âunaffordable care act.â Without extending the ACA subsidies, Iowans could face over $1 thousand monthly health insurance hike and would hit rural Iowa hard.
Message: Hinson betrayed Iowans by refusing to extend and protect Iowanâs healthcare.
Message: Hinson voted to take away Iowanâs ability to afford groceries to fund billionaire tax breaks.
Message: Hinson is siding with Trumpâs trade war and is choosing higher prices and hurting Iowaâs access to global market over protecting affordability and Iowansâ livelihoods.
Message: Hinson voted against protecting Iowansâ clean energy jobs to give tax breaks to billionaires.
¶ Hinson Defended Cuts That Threatened Social Security, Iowanâs Livelihood And Iowaâs Economy
Message: Hinson cheered cuts that meant slower services, loss of jobs, and a worse economy.
¶ Hinson Supported War In Iran Which Caused Skyrocketting Gas And Fertilizer Prices
- Hinson defended the war in Iran and opposed legislative action to limit the ongoing war. The war in Iran caused gas prices in Iowa to skyrocket harming Iowan families. The war also caused the price of fertilizer to increase which, along with the gas prices, were harming Iowaâs farmers.
Message: Hinson cheered on Trumpâs war in Iran which was raising gas and fertilizer prices, tightening Iowan families and farmerâs pockets.
- Hinson voted against the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill which provided essential funds for infrastructure projects. The Infrastructure Bill provided funding for dams and licks that helped Iowaâs economy, and despite her opposition, Hinson touted the funding.
Message: Hinson touted critical funding that she voted against.
Message: Hinson wouldnât fight for Iowanâs ability to access clean drinking water.
- Hinson alluded to supporting Social Security cuts and she claimed that she was âopenâ to raising the retirement age despite acknowledging that it would be unpopular.
Message: Hinson couldnât be trusted to protect Iowanâs social security.
¶ Hinson Was An Ineffective And Bad Representative For Farmers
Message: Hinson supported policies that harmed farmersâ market access, increased their input costs, diminished their supplemental incomes and was wholly ineffective at pushing through renewable fuel policy through Congress.
- Hinson was endorsed and praised by Ernst with Hinson claiming that she shared the same values as Ernst. Ernst claimed that her seat âbelongedâ to Hinson.
- Ernst was riddled with numerous controversies from inappropriate relations with Pentagon staff who she was supposed to oversee as a member of the Senate armed services committee to claiming âwe are all going to dieâ when Iowans voiced their concerns about devastating Medicaid cuts.
Message: Hinson would continue Ernstâs unpopular legacy.
- Hinson was caught plagiarizing from her opponent at the time, representative Finkenauer, as well as numerous news outlets. Hinson went on to blame her staff and claim that the allegations were a partisan attack.
Message: How can we trust Hinson to represent Iowans in the Senate if she threw her journalistic integrity away and plagiarized.
