¶ How To Win Against Mike Flood
Mike Flood was a career politician who has spent his time in congress making life more expensive for Nebraskans. He voted to take away Nebraskans health coverage and food assistance to give tax breaks to the super rich and admitted he didn’t read the bill that did so in its entirety. He opposed a bill that lowered prescription drug costs and capped insulin costs for seniors. He supported tariffs that are making life harder and more expensive for Nebraskans, farmers, and manufacturers. He also pushed extreme anti-choice policies that put Nebraska women at-risk. Nebraskans in the first congressional district deserve a representative who will stand up for them.
¶ Flood Voted To Take HEalth Coverage From Thousands Of Nebraskans
- Mike Flood voted for a bill, which he admitted he did not read in its entirety, that would kick 17 million Americans off their health insurance, including nearly 12 million Americans off of Medicaid. More than 21,000 Nebraskans in the first congressional district were at-risk of losing their health coverage because of Flood’s votes.
- Flood also voted against extending enhanced ACA tax credits after calling for an extension of them the month before. Nebraskans have faced dramatic premium increases as a result.

- Flood voted against the Inflation Reduction Act, which lowered prescription drug costs and capped the cost of insulin at $35/month for Nebraska seniors. Then he voted for House Republicans’ reconciliation bill, which he admitted he didn’t read in its entirety, which would trigger nearly $500 billion in Medicare cuts absent future congressional action. He was also a member of the Republican Study Committee, which has advocated for raising the retirement age and turning Medicare into a voucher system.
- Flood also supported Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) despite the backlash he received from Nebraskans over his support. When asked about his support for DOGE, Flood responded, “people don’t like change.” Flood claimed he was “excited” about DOGE and cuts were necessary even as DOGE-driven cuts and downsizing affected the federal government’s ability to deliver services to seniors. More than 125,000 Nebraskans in the 1st congressional district relied on Social Security benefits.

- Flood voted for a bill that made the largest SNAP cut in history. His vote threatened food assistance for more than 22,000 Nebraska households in the 1st congressional district. When confronted about his vote to cut SNAP, Flood responded, “we do not have unlimited money in the United States” and then was booed by his constituents.

- Flood was a staunch advocate for tariffs and opposed a call to reign in the president’s ability to unilaterally impose them. Then he voted six times to protect Trump’s tariffs including in April 2025, when Flood was the deciding vote to protect Trump’s tariffs. Tariffs were devastating for Nebraska farmers and manufacturers, and amounted to a $1,000 tax increase on Americans.

- Flood celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade and touted that he helped pave the way for the decision. Flood supported a national abortion ban and pushed a trigger law in Nebraska that sought to criminalize doctors for providing abortions that could have also threatened access to IVF and certain contraceptives. Earlier in his career in the state legislature, Flood pushed a 20-week abortion ban that was also the first time a state sought to outlaw the procedure without an exception for the health of the woman. Flood has also sought to restrict the use of medication abortion and voted against protecting the right of Nebraskans to access contraceptives.

¶ It Took Flood 11 Months To Vote To Release The Epstein Files, And He Did Only After Trump Signaled To House Republicans That He Approved
- Flood voted twice to protect the accused pedophiles named in the Epstein files, and never cosponsored legislation or signed Rep. Thomas Massie’s discharge petition that called for the Epstein files to be released. Only after Trump signaled it was okay did Flood vote to release the files.
