John E. Sununu Campaign Praised Trump's Iran War And Said “The World Is A Better Place Without Khamenei And His Regime’s Leaders.” According to the New Hampshire Journal, “The John E. Sununu campaign is equally unimpressed. ‘Chris Pappas appears to be debating himself whether or not Iran was trustworthy. Of course, the greatest sponsor of terrorism around the world isn’t trustworthy,’ said campaign spokesman Mike Schrimpf. ‘As John has made clear, the world is a better place without Khamenei and his regime’s leaders.’” [New Hampshire Journal, 3/2/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Said The United States Was “Absolutely” Safer Due To The Iran War. “Chris Ryan: Do you think The United States is safer today as a result of these actions? John E. Sununu: Absolutely. Safer as a result of eliminating Iran's nuclear program, to be sure. Safer if and as we succeed in destroying their network, supporting global terrorism. Absolutely. Remember, this is a network that doesn't isn't hypothetical. They've killed thousands of Americans through their terror network. And obviously, it started with the taking of the embassy in Iran. But the bombing of the Khobar Towers, the bombing of the Marine barracks and embassy, thousands of Americans killed by Iranian built and shipped bombs in Iraq. I mean, this is a regime that has killed more Americans over the past 50 years than just about anyone else. So, yes. Will we be safer if these very specific objectives are achieved? Absolutely.” [New Hampshire Today, 3/5/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Praised The War In Iran. “Host: How do you think that war is going and what do you think and what do you think of the president's objectives? John E. Sununu: Sure. Well, look, the men and women executing this operation have done an extraordinary job. The technology that's been used, the approach that's been taken, I think has been effective, very effective. And I do think the objectives are clear. You know, one of the things that I it drives me crazy turning on the mainstream media is that they pretend they don't know what the objectives are, when for months we weren't negotiating or trying to negotiate three basic things into the nuclear program, into the ballistic missile program, and an end to Iran's support for global terrorism. For 47 years, this is the biggest supporter of global terrorism around the world. So it was absolutely clear months ago what the objectives were if we needed to take military action. And the president was clear that the military action was on the table. So the strikes themselves, we know what they were about. We know what they're trying to accomplish. I think they've made great progress on dismantling that nuclear infrastructure in operation. Obviously, they've made great progress on the ballistic missile complex, but there's more to be done there. And I think only when we've really taken out their command and control centers and the infrastructure of terrorist organizations around the Middle East, are we really going to be confident about accomplishing the shared objective.” [Let the Record Show, 3/8/26]
[VIDEO] John E. Sununu Said The Iran War Was In “America’s National Security Interest.” “Guerringue: So you support it? John E. Sununu: I think striking those three specific goals which I do think are in America's national security interest, and that's what any use of any use of our military should be focused on. What is America's national security, interest and objectives. Guerringue: But the president himself said we obliterated the nuclear material last summer. John E. Sununu: They struck facilities. They certainly damaged facilities. But we were negotiating with the Iranians to have them swear off their program, give up their enriched uranium, and they refused. So, obviously. There's another step.” [Conway Daily Sun, 3/11/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Supported The War In Iran And Said “The Administration Has Laid Out They Simply Cannot Have Access To A Nuclear Weapon.” “Graham: So when you were in Congress and these issues would come forward, what was your approach to what the U.S. 's stance should be in the Middle East and also what Congress's role is in when it comes time to actually start shooting things? John E. Sununu: Sure. Well, look, it goes back really to the fight on terrorism and the issues you describe to the taking of the embassy in Iran. You know, with the current conflict now, we have to remember, certainly Iran has been at war with the United States for 47 years. And they're responsible not just for taking the embassy, but for bombing the embassy in Beirut, for bombing the Marine barracks in Beirut, bombing our military in Saudi Arabia, Khobar Towers, bombing the Cole, and obviously killing thousands, using IEDs in the conflict with Iran. So, you know, the driver here has to be and should be what's in our national security interests and how do we achieve those national security goals? And then in the case of Iran, I think the administration has laid out they simply cannot have access to a nuclear weapon, their ballistic missile program. It needs to be eliminated, not just degraded, but really eliminated. And they need to stop this 50 year funding of global terrorism. Those are in America's national security interest. Those are the objectives here. And I do think we're on our way to achieving them. And once we've achieved them, the effort will come to a conclusion.” [NHJournal Podcast, 3/12/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Said Trump’s Iran War “Absolutely Has Advanced Our National Security Interest.” “And, you know, words, phrases like regime change and victory, they're always a little loaded. But the way I would phrase it is that absolutely has advanced our national security interest has dealt with an issue or a set of issues that have plagued Americans, plagued our country at home and around the world for 47 years. Right. And the idea of just leaving the status quo and saying, well, that we shouldn't have struck the ayatollah. We shouldn't have struck his leadership. We shouldn't have struck these ballistic missile operations is saying, no. We should have just continued on with Iran as this global threat, you know, obviously blackmailing, trying to get sanctions lifted unless we allow them to engage in nuclear weapon production. But also the status quo is Iran killing Americans and certainly our allies through their proxies. And at a certain point, you have to say that's no longer acceptable to America's national security interest.” [NHJournal Podcast, 3/12/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Said “We’ve Largely Accomplished” Goals In Iran. “So look, of course, there were concerns. Any time, you know, the serious need to use our military and to put men and women in the service of harm's way. You have to be thoughtful and have real concerns about it. When we talked about it several weeks ago, Mike, Mike, my key point and it's the same was that we have three key national security objectives that I see. Destroy, eliminate, degrade their nuclear capability, destroy, eliminate, degrade their ability to launch weapons, their ballistic missile capability, which we have found out in this conflict was even greater than people anticipated. And degrade and eliminate their ability to support terrorist proxies around the region. Those are the three things that support America's national security interest. I think we are well on our way to achieving those three objectives. I think fact I think the president will speak to that tonight. I don't think you have to take possession of the nuclear material, given how much damage has been done to the nuclear infrastructure there, plants in their facilities. I think, you know, any cease fire agreement might include monitoring of that material. The International Energy Administration, which had done that in the past. But, you know, do you have to go in there and take possession of it? No, because that wasn't part of the original three national security goals, in my opinion. And we'll see what the president has to say tonight. But I think we're we've largely accomplished those three goals. You know, whether it takes another week or two weeks or two to finish achieving those, I can't tell you. But I think this needs to come to a timely conclusion.” [Good Morning New Hampshire, 4/1/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Said The Strait Of Hormuz Would Be Reopened “In The Coming Week Or Two.” “Chris Ryan: When it comes to the economic impact, We're already seeing a slight uptick at the pump when it comes to gasoline prices. And that economic impact could become greater if this is extended over a period of time. Do you have concerns there or is the mission so noble that some sacrifice by Americans via their wallets or pocketbooks may be necessary? John E. Sununu: Well, the mission is important and critical because it's focused on American national security interests. Obviously, we've been talking about the economy, jobs, productivity, wage growth, affordability. These are all very important things to the American people, and they'll remain important things that are important to me. We have had a closure of a shipping lane in the Middle East. I feel pretty confident that will be reopened in the coming week or two, and that's had an impact and we need to be cognizant of that. There are things you can probably do to help mitigate that. Whether it's utilization of our strategic reserves, which are set aside for conflicts and in times like this, boosting refining capacity, other things. So I think those need to be on the table. But obviously, our national security interests come first.” [New Hampshire Today, 3/5/26]
[AUDIO] John E. Sununu Touted Trump’s War In Iran And Said It Would Last “Another Couple Of Weeks.” “Chris Ryan: Do you agree with what President Trump is doing here? Do you think this mission is successful? John E. Sununu: Well, let's go back to, you know, what we talked about a few weeks ago, right? The reason to use the military is to achieve very specific national security objectives. And they are one. Destroy Iran's ability to to build, develop work on nuclear weapons, to destroy their ballistic missile program, which is we've seen was even further along than we expected, given their long range missiles that they've used. And then lastly, prevent them destroy the infrastructure that they use to support terrorists around the world. This has been a 47 year war against terrorists funded by Iran. And I think, yes, we have largely achieved our objectives in all three of those areas. Those were the goals to begin with. Those remain the goals. I think he's indicated, you know, another couple of weeks. I don't you know, I don't have information about all the remaining military targets to achieve those objectives, but as we've seen, largely successful in those areas. And at that point, you wind this down, you've achieved your objectives and obviously you reopen the Strait of Hormuz. So, look, I think that's the right thing. I don't I don't think you need to go and dig out the buried uranium. They've destroyed their plants, destroyed their infrastructure, destroyed their research centers for the nuclear program. So it's it is set back dramatically and I think irreparably.” [New Hampshire Today, 4/2/26]
