¶ How TO Win Against Laurel Lee
Laurel Lee has made life harder for Floridians in the 15th congressional district. From her time as Floridaâs Secretary of State to her two terms as a Congresswoman, she has fought to restrict Floridiansâ rights and served as nothing but a rubber stamp for national Republicansâ catastrophic agenda. She voted to kick more than 52,000 Floridians off their health coverage by supporting the Big Ugly Bill, even though Florida health care professionals warned the billâs cuts would deal an âextreme blowâ to the stateâs health care system. In the same vote, she passed the biggest cuts to SNAP in history, ignoring that more than 41,000 households in her district relied on the program. She called DOGE a âtremendous opportunityâ claimed there even as the agency eliminated her constituentsâ jobs and hamstrung the Social Security agency. Lee is a member of the Republican Study Committee, which staunchly advocates for raising the Social Security retirement age and turning Medicare into a voucher system. Lee praised Trumpâs tariffs and voted six separate times to protect them, ignoring the âmega-layoffsâ they were causing across the country and rising prices for Floridians. She supported a 15-week abortion ban without exceptions for rape or incest and the overturning of Roe v. Wade, which led to Floridaâs now near-total abortion ban. As the Florida Secretary of State, she fought to make it harder for Floridians to vote in elections and defended a Congressional redistricting plan that voting rights groups argued diminished Black Floridiansâ electoral voice.
¶ Lee Voted For Devastating Health Care Cuts
- Lee voted for a bill that would kick 17 million Americans off their health insurance, including nearly 12 million Americans off of Medicaid. More than 52,000 Floridians could lose their health coverage as a result of her votes. The President of the Florida Hospital Association called the health care cuts an âextreme blowâ to the stateâs health care system. She also allowed enhanced ACA premium tax credits to expire, causing premiums to increase on Floridians, even though more than 4.7 million Floridians relied on the law for health insurance â more than any state in the country.

¶ Lee Supported Massive Cuts To Medicare and raising the social security retirement age
- Lee voted for Republicansâ reconciliation bill, which the Congressional Budget Office estimated would trigger more than $500 billion in cuts to Medicare absent future congressional action. Lee has also claimed that there were âhuge savingsâ to be made in Medicare by going after what she claims is waste, fraud, and abuse.
- Lee was a member of the Republican Study Committee, which staunchly advocated for raising the age at which seniors would be eligible to collect Social Security. The Committee claimed that the age increase was essential for keeping Social Security solvent, ignoring that a higher retirement age would cut the median-wage retireeâs benefits by thousands of dollars every year. The Committee also advocated for turning Medicare into a voucher system, which would raise health care costs for most beneficiaries.

- Lee voted for a bill that made the largest SNAP cut in history. More than 41,000 households, making up 13.7% of her district, relied on SNAP to afford groceries.

¶ Lee Was The Deciding Vote To Protect Trumpâs Tariffs that were raising prices on floridians
- Lee praised Trumpâs tariffs and claimed they were âdelivering real results.â Then, she voted six times to protect the tariffs, including in April 2025 when she was the deciding vote to protect them, dooming Florida families who relied on her to a trade war and spooking businesses. Tariffs are contributing to higher food prices, âmega-layoffsâ across the country, and amounted to a $1,000 tax increase on Americans.

¶ Lee Supported A government Agency That Laid Off Federal Workers And Hamstrung The Social Security Agency
- Lee was a vocal supporter of Trumpâs âDepartment of Government Efficiency,â claiming that the agency presented a âtremendous opportunityâ to increase government functionality. She said she was âlooking forwardâ to helping the agency all while Floridians were suffering thanks to the agencyâs actions. DOGEâs downsizing efforts were affecting the federal governmentâs ability to deliver services to seniors, and the mass layoffs of federal workers were causing Floridians to suffer. More than 157,000 Floridians in Leeâs district relied on Social Security benefits and more than 5,000 were employed by the federal government.

¶ Lee supported abortion ban that endangered floridians
- Lee has long been an anti-choice extremist, starting from her first campaign for Congress in 2022 when she praised the Supreme Courtâs decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which led to Florida instituting a near-total abortion ban. She also supported Floridaâs 15-week abortion ban that endangered Floridians. After she was elected to Congress, she voiced opposition to a ballot amendment to enshrine the right to abortion in Floridaâs constitution that received support from 57 percent of Floridians.

- Lee voted twice to protect the accused pedophiles named in the Epstein files, and never cosponsored legislation or signed Rep. Thomas Massieâs discharge petition that called for the Epstein files to be released. Only after Trump signaled it was okay did Lee vote to release the files.

¶ Lee Defended Controversial Efforts To Change Florida Election Laws
- As the Florida Secretary of State, Lee was named in a lawsuit after Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law that placed new restrictions on mail-in voting and ballot drop boxes. She tried to get the case thrown out claiming the plaintiff lodged a weak allegation and there was no reason for her to be a defendant, but a judge rejected her claim given her role in overseeing Florida elections. The law was later blocked by a federal judge who ruled it violated the Voting Rights Act.
- Lee later defended a controversial Congressional redistricting plan that sought to redraw the district of Rep. Al Lawson, a Black Democrat, under claims that it was unconstitutionally gerrymandered. Voting rights groups argued a plan to redistrict violated a 2010 Florida constitutional amendment that sought to protect the voices of minority voters. In July 2025, the Florida Supreme Court sided with Governor DeSantisâ redistricting proposal.

- When Lee was first running for Congress in 2022, her opponent accused her and her husband of holding an investment in a Chinese-owned company during a debate. Lee immediately called the claim âwholesale made upâ and ânonsense,â but her husband owned up to $250,000 in Alibaba stock at the time. After getting elected to congress, she reported that her husband sold up to $250,000 in Alibaba stock, which drew attention because of her public comments about China and position on the Homeland Security subcommittee on cybersecurity and infrastructure protection.
