2024: Crank Said He Would Support A National Abortion Ban. According to the Colorado Times Recorder, "During an April 19 interview on KNUS radio’s Jeff and Bill Show, Colorado congressional candidate Jeff Crank stated his support for a national abortion ban. ‘Well, yes,’ replied Crank, a Republican, when asked by co-host Jeff Hunt if he supports a national ban. ‘Look, I’m pro-life, and I’m always going to vote to save unborn babies, period,’ continued Crank. ‘That’s just where I’m going to be. I owe it to voters to tell them that, so that they know that when they decide to vote for me or against me. That’s where I am on the life issue. You know, I believe that we ought to probably — we should have an exception for rape and incest, even though, look, I believe that abortion is murder no matter what.’" [Colorado Times Recorder, 4/29/24]
On A Colorado Sun Election Survey, Crank Said He Would Vote For A Federal Law To Limit Access To Abortion, But He Specified Exceptions For “Rape, Incest, And To Save The Life Of The Mother.”

2024: Crank Claimed Women Had Abortions As A “Convenience.” According to the Colorado Times Recorder, "Crank, who’s running for a congressional seat in the Colorado Springs area, called abortion mostly a ‘convenience’ for women. ‘So it’s convenience; ‘Well, I got pregnant, and therefore I want to abort the child,’ said Crank, explaining the thought process about abortion as he sees it. According to Crank, 97% of abortions in the United States are ‘nontherapeutic; they are for convenience.’ Co-host Bill Thorpe asked for clarification on what Crank meant about it being convenient to have an abortion. ‘I define it as, it doesn’t have anything to do with rape, incest or the life of the mother,’ said Crank, adding that life begins at conception." 2021: Crank Supported The Texas “Heartbeat” Abortion Ban And Claimed It Made “Logical Sense” To Throw Abortion Providers In Jail. According to Jeff Crank on the Jeff Crank Show, "CRANK: It's called a heartbeat bill for a reason. Now don’t like, they hate it when you call it a heartbeat bill, because it points out that the baby actually has a heartbeat. Right? That's why they that's why they say six weeks. You can't perform an abortion after six weeks. And by the way, perfectly consistent with Roe versus Wade, because Roe versus Wade said that states could regulate abortion. Totally consistent. But, Ben, the left coming uncorked. You know, women are going to die, and coat hangers and, you know, all this kind of stuff, and acting as though it makes them criminals. What it does is it says that abortion providers or doctors cannot perform abortions in Texas. This doesn't throw women in jail for doing, for having an abortion. It throws-- it would throw abortion providers in jail for murder, for murdering unborn babies, people, for stopping people's heartbeat. I don't know. It kind of makes sense, logical sense. It's logical to God." [The Jeff Crank Show, 9/4/21] (audio)
Texas Passed A Law Banning Abortions After Whenever A Heartbeat Was Detected, Which Experts Said Could Be As Early As Six Weeks And Before Many Women Knew They Were Pregnant. According to the Texas Tribune, "Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law Wednesday a measure that would prohibit in Texas abortions as early as six weeks — before some women know they are pregnant — and open the door for almost any private citizen to sue abortion providers and others. […] The bill bans abortions after whenever an ultrasound can detect what lawmakers defined as a fetal ‘heartbeat,’ which can be as early as six weeks into pregnancy. Medical and legal experts say the term is misleading because embryos don’t possess a heart at that developmental stage." [Texas Tribune, 5/19/21]
HEADLINE: “13 States Have Passed So-Called ‘Trigger Laws,’ Bans Designed To Go Into Effect If Roe V. Wade Is Overturned” [CNN, 5/3/22]
After Roe V. Wade Was Overturned, Texas’ Trigger Law Went Into Effect, Which Banned Abortion In All Cases Except When The Life Or The Health Of The Mother Is At Risk. According to the Center for Reproductive Rights, "Texas’s trigger ban, which criminalizes abortion, took effect on August 25, 2022,6 following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in the case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.7 The trigger ban’s only exception is for situations in which the life or health of the patient is at risk.8In 2025, the state clarified this exception by defining ‘life-threatening’ condition and specifying that the exception did not have to be ‘imminent’ to apply.9 Because abortion is now a crime in Texas, other criminal laws, including solicitation, aiding, attempt, and conspiracy, could apply to abortion.10 In 2023, the state created limited affirmative defenses to civil claims brought against physicians and pharmacists and prohibited professional licensing boards from disciplining physicians for treating ectopic pregnancies or providing miscarriage management;11 however, the affirmative defenses were repealed in 2025." The Rate Of Sepsis For Women Hospitalized When They Lost Their Pregnancies In The Second Trimester Increased More Than 50 Percent After Texas Banned Abortion. According to ProPublica via Texas Tribune, "Pregnancy became far more dangerous in Texas after the state banned abortion in 2021, ProPublica found in a first-of-its-kind data analysis. The rate of sepsis shot up more than 50% for women hospitalized when they lost their pregnancies in the second trimester, ProPublica found. The surge in this life-threatening condition, caused by infection, was most pronounced for patients whose fetus may still have had a heartbeat when they arrived at the hospital." At Least Two Women Who Were Experiencing Miscarriages Have Died In Texas Since Its Abortion Ban Went Into Effect. According to the Texas Tribune, "Barnica is one of at least two Texas women who ProPublica found lost their lives after doctors delayed treating miscarriages, which fall into a gray area under the state’s strict abortion laws that prohibit doctors from ending the heartbeat of a fetus. Neither had wanted an abortion, but that didn’t matter. Though proponents insist that the laws protect both the life of the fetus and the person carrying it, in practice, doctors have hesitated to provide care under threat of prosecution, prison time and professional ruin. ProPublica is telling these women’s stories this week, starting with Barnica’s. Her death was ‘preventable,’ according to more than a dozen medical experts who reviewed a summary of her hospital and autopsy records at ProPublica’s request; they called her case ‘horrific,’ ‘astounding’ and ‘egregious.’" [Texas Tribune, 10/30/24]
