Dan Sullivan, a born-and-raised Ohioan, has voted time and time again to cut services for hard-working Alaskans and to endanger the lives of rural Alaskans and Alaska natives. Sullivan voted for legislation that kicked tens of thousands of Alaskans off their health insurance, supported the elimination of funding for life-saving public broadcasting, defended tariffs that hurt the many small businesses that employ half of Alaska’s workforce, ignored Alaska Natives opposing the opening of the NPR-A for development, and cut food assistance for hard-working Alaskans. Sullivan does not know what is best for Alaskan communities and shows it through his consistent votes against the Alaskan people.
Sullivan voted for the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that cut Medicaid by $1 trillion over 10 years and resulted in over 36,000 Alaskans losing health coverage. Sullivan claimed that Alaska was in “good shape” regarding Medicaid funding following passage of the bill, calling it a “big win” for rural hospitals and healthcare. Sullivan applauded the Rural Health Transformation Fund (RHTF) included in the bill as “huge for Alaska.” The Center For Medicaid And Medicare Services (CMS), however, capped usage of the $50 billion fund at 15% for health provider payments, including to rural hospitals. Sullivan also panned the Affordable Care Act and failed repeatedly to vote to uphold the subsidies that Alaskans needed to keep access to their heath care.
Message: Sullivan supported taking healthcare away from tens of thousands of Alaskans and jeopardized the health of rural Alaskans.
Sullivan voted for the 2025 rescissions package that reduced funding for public broadcasting by $1.1 billion through fiscal year 2027. In Alaska, that Native-American initiated station KYUK received 70% of its funding from the federal government. In the leadup and aftermath of Typhoon Halong, KYUK played a key role in warning primarily Yu’pik communities, many of whom speak Yugtun. With the loss of a little over $1 million in federal funding, however, KYUK was forced to reduce staff from 23 employees to 14 as well as cut a daily program to four days a week.
Message: Sullivan voted for legislation that would endanger the lives of rural Alaskans and Alaska natives in times of emergency.
Sullivan defended Trump’s tariffs, claiming he was transparent about his tariff strategy throughout his campaign. With the third highest export-to-import ratio in Alaska, the state is more vulnerable to retaliatory tariffs than most of the country. 70% of Alaskan small businesses, which employ more than half of the state, were forced to increase prices as a result of the tariffs.
Message: Sullivan supported tariffs that hurt Alaskan small businesses.
Sullivan voted for the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that contained the largest cut to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in history. Sullivan also supported work requirements for SNAP under the bill, which would disproportionately impact 20% of the Alaskan workforce that are classified as seasonal workers.
Message: Sullivan voted for cuts to food assistance that would hurt Alaska’s large population of seasonal workers.
Alaska’s Bristol Bay supports the largest wild sockeye salmon fishery in the world, providing billions of dollars for the local economy and thousands of fishing jobs. The proposed Pebble mine, slated to be constructed near Bristol Bay headwaters, would put the entire salmon ecosystem and economy at risk. The EPA called potential damage and waste from the proposed mine “unprecedented” in scale and disruptive to the local environment. Even so, Sullivan defended the Pebble Mine’s permitting process as Attorney General and opposed the EPA’s potential veto of the project as Senator. In secretly-recorded conversations leaked to the public, Pebble’s executives claimed they had influence over Sullivan, who had personal and professional connections to the Pebble Partnership. After a legal fallout, Sullivan attempted to distance himself from Pebble and pledged to redirect their donations—which he never did.
Message: Sullivan maintained suspect connections and took money from the business interests behind the deeply unpopular and environmentally disastrous Pebble mine project.
While tiptoeing around questions on whether he supported or opposed a Congressional stock trading ban, Sullivan was raking in millions through stock trades. Since first attaining office as Senator, Sullivan’s personal net worth has increased by 176%. What’s more, Sullivan flouted the law by failing to disclose key trades: specifically his capital gains from Mowi ASA, one of the biggest corporate competitors to Alaska’s salmon fishing industry. By investing in Mowi ASA, Sullivan made money off of a company that illegally colluded to inflate its own prices and hurt Alaska fishermen by forcing down the price of Alaskan wild-caught salmon.
Message: While conveniently staying mum on the notion of banning Congressional stock trading, Sullivan reaped a cash windfall from a controversial salmon company directly harming the Alaska fishing industry he claims to represent.
Sullivan defended Trump’s war with Iran despite the conflict driving up fuel prices for Alaska communities. On multiple separate occasions, he voted down resolutions to curb the conflict while Alaska families struggled to make ends meet. The war’s resulting price spikes were endangering Alaska villages and risking an ‘apocalyptic’ winter of fuel shortages.
Message: Sullivan championed Trump’s war with Iran, causing Alaska families and businesses to suffer dangerously higher gas and fuel prices.
