He coasted to victory in the primary without taking a stand on key issues important to Texans, instead relying on his sister’s name. One thing he made clear was that he was eager to be “Trump’s wingman” if elected to Congress. He has touted endorsements from President Donald Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson, even though their policies have caused pain for many Texans in the 35th district, and he has also touted endorsements from numerous members of Congress who have faced various scandals. Texans in the new 35th district deserve a congressman who will be honest with them about where they stand on key issues, not another self-serving politician who’s just another talking head for Washington party leaders.

- Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson were behind legislation that cut health care for 17 million Americans, including nearly 12 million Medicaid beneficiaries. More than 4.4 million people in Texas relied on Medicaid to obtain health insurance.
Message: De La Cruz wanted to be another vote in Congress to kick Texans off their health care all to give billionaires tax breaks.

In Texas, the tariffs were causing worsening job growth and increased prices for local businesses and their customers.
