Harding Said Being Accountable To Constituents Meant Remembering That “The Job Isn’t About” Him And That He Wouldn’t “Lose Sight Of Whose Interests I Am Here To Serve.” According to a candidate questionnaire by the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) of Omaha, “JCRC: What does accountability to constituents mean to you in practice? BRINKER HARDING: A good representative remembers that the job isn’t about them. Too many people arrive in Washington and start optimizing for their own reelection or their own career. The people who sent them there become an afterthought. On the Omaha City Council, I show up, do the work, and remain accountable to the people I represent. I don’t always get it right, but I never lose sight of whose interests I am here to serve. That means making decisions based on what’s right for Nebraska — even when it’s not the easiest path — and supporting real reforms like banning Congressional stock trading, ending Congressional pay during government shutdowns, and passing realistic term limits.” [Jewish Community Relations Council, 4/26]
Harding Said A Good Representative Does Not Arrive “Optimizing For Their Own Reelection” Or “Their Own Career.” According to a candidate questionnaire from Nebraska Examiner, “NEBRASKA EXAMINER: What qualities define a good U.S. representative, and how would you meet those? BRINKER HARDING: A good representative remembers the job isn't about them. Too many arrive in Washington optimizing for their own reelection, their own stock portfolio and their own career. On the Omaha City Council, I show up, do the work and never lose sight of whose interests I am here to serve. In Congress, that means being accessible at home, doing the unglamorous work of legislating instead of performing for cameras and having the courage to do what's right for Nebraska even when it's not the easiest path.” [Nebraska Examiner, viewed 5/1/26]
Harding Called An Event Attendee Biased For Inquiring Why He’d Run For Congress Immediately After A City Council Election And Said He Was Always Looking At “What I Wanted To Do After” Being On The City Council. In an event hosted by Sarpy County Republican Club, Brinker Harding said, “AUDIENCE MEMBER: What made you decide to ascend to a higher office without finishing out your term first? HARDING: I love the bias in that. Here's exactly why I made the decision to run for reelection at the City Council of Omaha last summer. And I really enjoy my position on the city council, but I've always looked at what it would look like, what I wanted to do after that. And this was one of those options.” [Sarpy County Republican Club, 7/11/25] (video)
Harding Said He Prepared To Run For Congress In 2025 In The Event Don Bacon Retired And If Bacon Hadn’t Retired Then He “Would Be Prepared In Two Years To Run For That Office.” In an event hosted by Sarpy County Republican Club, Brinker Harding said, “HARDING: And then when when Congressman Bacon started making some noise about that he wasn't going to run again. I put my team together. This is how forward-thinking, I think I’ve been on this. I put my team together and I said, hmm, what would it look like for us to run for Congress? For us, our team? And that's what we are, we're a team, and I want you to be part of the team too by the way. What would it look like? And so we went through the motions and said, okay, we need this, we need this, we need this. And you know what ? If if Don Bacon decided that he was going to run again , great. We went through that exercise for a good reason, because I would be prepared in two years to run for that office. But in the event that Don Bacon decided that he wasn't going to run , we could hit the ground running , and that's exactly what we did. He announced on Monday that he was not running. On Tuesday , we announced we were running and we had the endorsements of Senator Deb Fischer, Senator Kathleen Kauth, former Senator Jim Smith, Hal Daubs, uh, uh, Governor Heineman, Tony Connor.” [Sarpy County Republican Club, 7/11/25] (video)
