2022: After The Supreme Court Overturned Roe V. Wade, Mast Said It Was A “Great Decision For The Sanctity Of Life” And A “Reason To Celebrate.” According to a blog post by Rep. Brian Mast, “In a great decision for the sanctity of life, just moments ago, the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade and ended nearly 50 years of injustice. I fought on battlefields to protect the innocent and uphold the Constitution—abortion does neither, which is why this Supreme Court decision is so important. Our kids are the most innocent among us—at a year, at birth and before. This decision will protect millions of vulnerable, unborn babies, and that is a reason to celebrate.” [Blog – Rep. Brian Mast, 6/24/22]
On The One Year Anniversary Of The Supreme Court’s Decision To Overturn Roe V. Wade, Mast Said He Was “Overjoyed” To Hear The Ruling. According to a blog post from Rep. Brian Mast, “I fought on battlefields in order to protect the innocent and to uphold our Constitution. Abortion does neither of those things. That’s why I was overjoyed when, one year ago today, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of life and struck down Roe v. Wade. The Dobbs decision protects millions of unborn babies, and finally ended a decades-long attack on the most vulnerable members of our society. In Congress, our work continues. I’m proud to have supported legislation like the Born-Alive Protection Act and to have fought back against radical Democrat initiatives that would allow abortion on demand right up to the moment of birth.” [Blog – Rep. Brian Mast, 6/25/23]
Mast Said He Was Thankful Florida “Stood Firm For Life” After The “Historic” Dobbs Decision That Sent Abortion Policy To The States. According to a blog post from Rep. Brian Mast, “Three years ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade by issuing the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision. It was a historic moment that put the issue of abortion back where it belongs: in the hands of the states. And thankfully, many states – including Florida – have stood firm for life. But this fight is far from over.” [Blog – Rep. Brian Mast, 6/24/25]
The Overturning Of Roe V. Wade Allowed Florida To Institute A Six-Week Abortion Ban. According to Physicians for Human Rights, “In June 2022, the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization overturned the federal constitutional right to abortion.[1] In July 2022, Florida enacted a ban on abortion care after 15 weeks of gestation from the first day of a pregnant person’s last menstrual period, with only limited exceptions.[2] Two years later, in April 2024 the Florida Supreme Court followed suit and overturned decades of precedent that the Florida Constitution’s Privacy Clause protects the right to abortion. This judgment cleared the way for a new, far more restrictive six-week abortion ban to take effect on May 1, 2024.[3] This ban shifted the legal limit for abortion from 15 weeks to six weeks from the first day of a pregnant person’s last menstrual period and included only very narrow exceptions that differed from those in the 15-week ban. The penalties for those who violate the ban are severe, including imprisonment, fines, and loss of medical licenses.[4]” [Physicians for Human Rights, 9/17/24]
2016: Mast Suggested Some Women Used Abortion As A Form Of Birth Control. According to Times of Israel, "Mast, who is a practicing Christian and attends the evangelical Calvary Chapel, believes abortion should be permitted in some, but not all cases. ‘If the mother’s life is in jeopardy, or if it is a case of rape or incest, then abortion is okay. However, abortion is murder if it is used as a form of birth control,’ he said." [Times of Israel, 3/2/16]
