In Cleveland County, N.C. That Were Taken Into Trust By The Interior
Department For The Benefit Of The Catawba Indian Nation, And Allowing
Gaming In That Land Under The Federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. In
November 2021, Fitzpatrick voted for the Catawba Indian Nation Lands Act
which would, according to Congressional Quarterly, "reaffirm the status
of approximately 17 acres of land located in Cleveland County, N.C.,
that were taken into trust by the Interior Department in July 2020 for
the benefit of the Catawba Indian Nation. It would specify that gaming
on the tribe's lands in South Carolina would be subject to state law
while gaming on the tribe's lands outside of South Carolina would be
subject to the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act." The vote was on
passage. The House passed the bill by a vote of 361-55. [House Vote
