October 2025: Charles Said He Was “Unapologetically Pro-Life,” Supported “Rolling Back” Abortion Access, And Opposed Public Funding For Abortion Services. According to Bobby Charles at the 2025 Maine GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Forum, “CHARLES: I honor the faith expressed by everybody up here. As you may or may not know, Jesus Christ is my savior. He has saved my life many times, in many places. Faith is central to my life and the life of my family. I can think of three ways right off, first of all, beyond modeling that face every day as a governor. The first is we will never have mandates again that shut down people of faith. I will sign the bill and I think Reagan Paul introduced it, that shuts off emergency powers for a governor indefinitely. You can go 30, 60, 90 days, and then the legislature has to re-up it. So I will do that. Number two, we will respect the Christian schools and faith in our schools. And number three, I am unapologetically pro-life. Unapologetically. We will roll back the extreme late term abortions because 67% of Mainers agree with that.
