Monica De La Cruz was out-of-touch with the Texans she claimed to represent. She has spent most of her time in Congress voting to rip away access to critical programs, like health care and food assistance, that Texans relied on. She was an anti-choice extremist opposing exceptions even for rape and incest. She also lacks the temperament for the job. While running for Congress in 2021, De La Cruz’s then-husband requested a restraining order against her and accused her of “cruel and aggressive conduct” toward his 14-year-old daughter. A judge ruled that she was prohibited from going home until her election was over. She also opposed COVID-relief spending packages despite having collected more than a hundred thousand dollars in relief money for her own businesses. De La Cruz cannot not be trusted to represent her constituents’ best interests.
- De La Cruz voted for a bill that would kick 17 million Americans off their health insurance, including nearly 11.8 million Americans off of Medicaid. As a result of her vote, more than 66,000 of her own constituents in the old TX-15 could lose their health coverage.

- De La Cruz voted to protect Trump’s tariffs six times, including in April 2025 when she was the deciding vote to protect them in Congress. She claimed the tariffs would bring economic success and praised Trump for threatening tariffs on Mexico in April 2025. De La Cruz neglected to speak out against Trump’s tariffs as they were hurting Texas’s economy and restaurant industry.

¶ De La Cruz Was An Anti-choice Extremist Who opposed exceptions in cases of rape and incest
- De La Cruz, who celebrated the overturning of Roe V. Wade, opposed abortions even in cases of rape and incest. After Roe v. Wade was overturned, Texas enforced a near-total abortion ban that has resulted in women being hospitalized for serious infections at a higher rate and at least two women dying after experiencing miscarriages. She believed life begins at conception and also tried to hide her extreme anti-choice views, but gradually scrubbing them from her website between 2020 and 2024.

¶ De La Cruz Criticized COVID Relief Funding Bills After Accepting Tens Of Thousands Of Those Federal Dollars For Her Own Businesses
- De La Cruz’s businesses directly benefited from COVID-19 pandemic relief funding. Three of her businesses collected over $180,000 in various COVID relief grants and loans, including a nearly $40,000 Paycheck Protection Program loan that was fully forgiven.
- After accepting COVID-19 relief money for herself, De La Cruz heavily criticized the Biden administration’s relief packages. She claimed the American Rescue Plan Act, which provided more funding for programs she had benefited from in 2020, caused the “destruction of small business” and “higher prices.”
Message: De La Cruz was a hypocrite who opposed government assistance for others but not for herself.
¶ It Took De La Cruz 11 Months To Vote To Release The Epstein Files, And She Did Only After Trump Signaled To House Republicans That He Approved
- November 2025, De La Cruz voted to release the Epstein files, but only after Donald Trump gave House Republicans permission to do so. She touted her vote as a move to hold the criminals accountable, but was not involved in the early efforts to release the files. She never signed the discharge petition to release the Epstein Files, and she never co-sponsored legislation calling for the files to be released.
Message: De La Cruz voted to hold the accused pedophiles in the Epstein Files accountable only after Trump gave Republicans permission.
