In February 2023, according to Congressional Quarterly, Schweikert voted for an amendment to a bill that would "specify that the bill's provisions would not affect a January 2023 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention order requiring a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 for aircraft passengers who are traveling to the United States from China or have been in China within the 10 days prior to U.S. entry."
