¶ Brad Sherman Supported Snap Restrictions Harming Iowa Families
- In 2023, Brad Sherman voted for legislation that restricted SNAP eligibility for Iowans, and was expected to kick thousands of Iowans off of Medicaid and SNAP benefits. He also sponsored a separate public assistance crackdown targeting SNAP and Medicaid in Iowa. The proposal restricted eligibility and limited allowable food purchases, and drew warnings from hunger advocates that it would make SNAP less accessible during rising food insecurity. In 2025, more than 260,000 Iowans relied on monthly SNAP benefits to afford groceries.

¶ Brad Sherman Was An Anti-Abortion Extremist
- Brad Sherman was an out-of-touch anti-abortion extremist who branded himself as the âmost pro-lifeâ candidate in the Iowa gubernatorial race. He pledged he would not waver in opposing abortion and opposed reproductive rights.
- In 2023, Sherman voted for a restrictive six-week abortion ban in Iowa. Brad Sherman dismissed abortion as unrelated to reproductive rights and promoted abstinence-only views, arguing people should simply refrain from having sex.
- Brad Sherman helped create and lead anti-abortion groups, including an anti-abortion crisis pregnancy center, and aligned his campaign with prominent anti-abortion organizations. In February 2026, Sherman attended a Right to Life Prayer Rally and claimed life began at conception.

- Brad Sherman opposed marriage equality and LGBTQ rights through religious objections, and sponsored measures that sought to ban same-sex marriage and embed a restrictive definition of marriage into the Iowa Constitution. He reaffirmed those views in public remarks rooted in religious objections and signaled he would continue pursuing that agenda if elected governor.

¶ Brad Sherman Was An election Denier
- In 2022, Brad Sherman repeatedly promoted claims questioning the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election, including assertions that the results were manipulated or fraudulent on his 2022 campaign website.
- On January 6, 2021, Brad Sherman elevated January 6 rhetoric by framing the certification of the election as a test of âtrue patriotsâ and publicly claiming evidence of fraud while Congress certified the results.

¶ Brad Sherman Opposed The Separation Of Church And State
- Brad Sherman advocated against the separation of church and state, calling it a âmythâ and urging for greater Christian influence over the American government. Sherman was also a part of religious leaders who believed Trumpâs presidential win was âordained by God.â During a prayer at a Cedar Rapids Rally in 2023, Sherman said âthe gates of Hell will not prevailâ over Trump and said it was Godâs âcallingâ for Trump to win the election.

¶ Brad Sherman Was An Anti-Vaccine Extremist
- Brad Sherman campaigned on âmedical freedomâ and sowed distrust in public health initiatives and vaccines, accusing the âmedical establishmentâ of âtyrannyâ during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sherman promoted misinformation about the COVID-19 vaccine, and he compared public health efforts during the pandemic to the Holocaust and forced medical experiments in Nazi Germany. He opposed all vaccine requirements, and received the endorsement of the anti-vaccine organization Stand for Health Freedom during his 2022 campaign for the Iowa House. In 2026, Brad Sherman signed a pledge with Americans for Health Freedom to oppose COVID vaccines.
